Comprehensive and third-party cover different losses
Third-party cover pays for damage you cause to other people and their property. Comprehensive cover usually adds damage to your own car, fire and theft. Choose based on the car’s value and your ability to absorb a loss.
Agency repair changes the repair quality
A comprehensive policy may offer agency repair for a new car or a workshop repair for an older one. Ask which workshops are approved and whether original parts are used.
The excess is part of the price
A low premium with a high excess can cost more after one claim. Ask whether the excess applies to every claim and whether it is higher for young or new drivers.
Driver profile and car value
Age, licence history, accident history and the car’s value change the premium. A quote for a family sedan is not a quote for a sports car or a commercial vehicle.
No-claims and renewal
Ask how a claim affects the no-claims discount and the renewal premium. A small claim may cost more over several renewals than paying for the repair yourself.
