A static catalogue with a local shortlist.
The published catalogue is served as static files. There is no account, no sign-in and no server-side profile of your browsing. This page explains the small amount of storage the site uses and the advertising rules that apply if ads are enabled later.

What is stored in your browser
When you save a record, the browser stores its identifier in local storage underwhatitcosts:saved:v1. The theme switch stores your light or dark preference under theme. Both stay on your device, are not sent to this site and are removed when you clear site data or use the clear button on the saved page.
What is not collected
There is no analytics script, no account database and no newsletter signup in this build. This build sets no cookies of its own. A search query is processed in your browser against a static index. We do not ask for your name, address, payment details or precise location.
Hosting
The site is served by a hosting provider. Like any web server, the provider may process request metadata such as your IP address, user agent and requested URL to deliver the site, keep it available and protect it from abuse. That processing is governed by the provider's own privacy and security terms.
Advertising and cookies
This build does not load an advertising script. The AdSense publisher id is empty, so no ad request is made and no advertising cookie is set by this site.
If advertising is enabled in a future version, the site may use Google AdSense. Google and its partners may then use cookies, web beacons, IP address, device information and approximate location to serve, measure and limit ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites.
You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at Google's partner-sites policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings and find more choices at aboutads.info.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland have additional consent rights. Before enabling personalized advertising for those visitors, we will use a Google-certified consent management platform and ask for consent before advertising cookies are set. Refusing consent will not block the catalogue.
Your choices and rights
You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser at any time. Blocking advertising cookies does not stop you reading the catalogue. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or object to processing of personal data. We do not sell personal information.
Children
The catalogue is a general-audience reference site and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will review it.
External links
Records link to retailers, manufacturers and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy and cookie practices. Visiting them is governed by their policies, not this one.
