Measure the room, then the delivery route

A furniture price is a flat-pack box, a delivery fee and sometimes an assembly charge. The dimensions decide whether it fits at all.

Measure the room and the access

Check the door width, stair turn, lift size and ceiling height before ordering. A sofa that fits the room may not fit through the door.

Flat-pack is not always cheaper

A flat-pack price may exclude delivery, assembly and packaging removal. Compare the delivered and assembled cost, especially for large items.

Material and construction

Solid wood, veneer, MDF and metal frame are different products. Ask what the load-bearing parts are made of and whether the finish is suitable for the room’s humidity.

Delivery and assembly

Ask whether the retailer delivers to the room, whether assembly is included and what happens if a part is missing. Keep the packaging until the item is assembled and checked.

Warranty and returns

Check the warranty and the return window. A made-to-order item may not be returnable, so confirm the dimensions and fabric before paying.
